Privacy policy for Social Preview

Social Preview is a browser extension that shows how a web page looks when you share it. This policy describes what the extension does with data.
What the extension collects
Nothing. No data is collected, stored or sent to me or to any third party. There is no account, no server, no analytics and no storage in your browser.
What the extension does do
When you click the icon, the extension reads the page you are on once: the title, the lang attribute, all meta tags, all link tags and any JSON-LD blocks. That data stays in the panel you are looking at and is gone as soon as you close it.
The extension does not run on your pages. As long as you do not click the icon, nothing happens.
The only outgoing request
To check whether your preview image is large enough, the extension loads that image from the URL in the page's og:image tag. That request goes to whoever hosts the image, usually your own server. No information about you travels with it that would not travel with opening the image in your browser.
Permissions
The extension requests activeTab and scripting: access to the tab you are currently looking at, at the moment you click the icon yourself. No host permissions are requested, so the extension has no standing access to any site. clipboardWrite exists for the button that copies the metadata as JSON.
